I work on transportation policy at PennDOT. I got here through a master's in city planning and a fellowship, after a previous career in music. Below is a professional timeline and some work I can share.

Policy research and analysis across highway administration, driver and vehicle services, multimodal transportation, and more. Work includes reviewing proposed legislation, developing agency policy and guidance on topics including murals in state right-of-way, EV charging, and digital driver's licenses, and representing the Policy Office on interagency initiatives.

Two-year competitive fellowship placing recent advanced degree recipients in Pennsylvania state agencies. Same office, same work — this was the path in.

2023
Policy research and legislative analysis for state senators, including analysis of the FY2024 budgets for the Departments of Education, Transportation, and Treasury. Developed a legislative proposal around harm reduction approaches to the xylazine/fentanyl combination. Also the year I learned to read proposed legislation.

I helped scope this national research synthesis, which will survey and document how state DOTs handle public art installations — covering governance, liability, maintenance, funding, and enabling legislation. Conducted through the National Cooperative Highway Research Program.

I surveyed and interviewed long-range planning staff at 14 Metropolitan Planning Organizations, then led the writing of this paper for the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. My first published work in the planning field.
