This weekend, thingNY is premiering SubtracTTTTTTTTT, a new live-streaming performance running Friday through Sunday at 6pm. The work can be viewed free of charge at thingNY.com, on the Facebook page, or YouTube channel. A preview appeared in The New Yorker.
SubtracTTTTTTTTT is “a live-streamed series of isolation etudes, songs, scenes, and scenarios reflecting on how a process of subtraction is redefining our mundane.” The project emerged when the scheduled tenth-anniversary revival of our experimental opera ADDDDDDDDD at Brooklyn’s Spectrum venue was canceled. The ensemble is Gelsey Bell, Isabel Castellvi, Dave Ruder, Paul Pinto, Erin Rogers, and me, with video design by Eamonn Farrell. Presented by Music at the Anthology (MATA).
Earlier this year: a West Coast tour with World/Inferno Friendship Society, performances with partner Evie as a music and storytelling duo, and the five-city debut tour of Marbleous, my free improv duo with Austrian bassist Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka.
Working on podcast music and solo compositions in the meantime, with uncertainty about our planned European summer tour.
