thingNY in Brooklyn & Philly, Northeast to Minneapolis tour

July 29, 2019

This Monday and Wednesday, thingNY performs Andrew Livingston’s News from the Oort Cloud in Brooklyn and Philly — “reverbed-out synthy slow jams and swirling minimalist washes of colors and chords.” Thursday I hit the road with World/Inferno Friendship Society for nearly two weeks: New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, DC, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Ohio, with a new rhythm section and horn players.

Recent highlights: a ten-show tour in early June with Laura Dykes across Pennsylvania, Ohio, DC, Maryland, New York, and Massachusetts; an outdoor World/Inferno set filmed at Punk Island; recording sessions in Brooklyn for Rick Burkhardt’s Passover; and a new chamber music collaboration with violist Eve Boltax, premiered in Boston.

In late August, I’m relocating from Boston to Philadelphia after eighteen months. The Austrian residency follows in September–October: collaborative work titled A History of Characters, exploring language and writing through absurdist and performative approaches, premiering in Vienna and Graz.
