May performances and West Coast tour

May 9, 2019

This weekend, thingNY is performing a new piece by Dave Ruder — “You Must Read a Lot of Jung,” scored for voice, violin, clarinet, tenor sax, cello, and cymbal — with shows in Connecticut, NYC, and Philadelphia. The NYC show also features the premiere of “SKYLIGHGHT” by Gelsey Bell and Erin Rogers.

Later in May: World/Inferno at Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas on May 24, and the Lucerne Festival Alumni Reunion in Brooklyn on May 29.

Recent performances: the Patriots opera in Vermont, the Catskills, and Baltimore; the Boston premiere of Wise & Young; World/Inferno in Providence and New Jersey; an eight-hour improvisation event in Somerville; and a solo premiere in rural Minnesota.

In June, Dykes & Young tour the Northeast, followed by World/Inferno in July. In September and October I’ll conduct a residency in Graz, Austria, developing Switching Tongues with collaborators Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka and Manuel Alcaraz Clemente.
