New project and solo in Boston, northeast dates

December 5, 2018

Exciting projects with collaborators old and new. This week I’m working with Montreal-based trombonist Felix Del Tredici on a new duo piece through a Boston Cultural Council grant — work showing Wednesday. December 9 in Cambridge: a solo set at Outpost 186 with violinist Leah Asher. Later in December, thingNY launches Andrew Livingston’s new album at C’mon Everybody in Brooklyn, and World/Inferno plays mid-month dates in Rhode Island, Brooklyn, and Delaware with The Bouncing Souls. January brings a new duo residency with Paul Pinto, and a Southwest tour with bassist Laura Dykes. 2019 includes residencies in Minnesota and Graz, Austria.

The Felix Del Tredici piece uses instruments, Ableton Live, accessories, and voices — it grew from previous work on NOMOZART, a movement and music project for young audiences. Work showing Wednesday at 7:30pm in Boston (contact for details). Funded by the Boston Cultural Council.

December 9 at Outpost 186, Leah Asher performs acoustic improv from her album Retreat into Afters, and I play a solo set for violin and Ableton Live.

Mid-December, World/Inferno plays Music Hall of Williamsburg, The Met in Rhode Island, and The Queen in Delaware, with The Worriers and The Bouncing Souls.

December 17, thingNY interprets Andrew Livingston’s News from the Oort Cloud at C’mon Everybody, with ellen o and Sir Kay.

Looking further: Paul Pinto residency at Camphill Soltane with a January 8 work-in-progress showing; inaugural Dykes and Young tour late January/early February; residencies in New York Mills MN and Graz, Austria continuing the Switching Tongues project. Recent thingNY videos now public from the Roulette premiere of Rick Burkhardt’s Passover.
